Boiler Operator – Gevo | Agri-Energy

Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of plant boilers, cooling tower, RO unit, methanator and other related equipment to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the Company.

Location: Luverne, MN

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely operate boiler, steam, condensate, water make up systems, cooling tower and methanator to minimize waste and maximize efficiency
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the entire steam, condensate, makeup water systems, cooling tower and methanator including all flows, valves, pumps, and controls
  • Monitor on a continuous basis the boilers, DA tank, feed water pumps, chemical feed system, water softener, RO unit, cooling tower and methanator
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the controls and alarm system of the boiler operation
  • Maintain and keep accurate records of required equipment readings and activities
  • Coordinate and communicate with production personnel all maintenance and repair work
  • Operate other equipment including telehandler, skid steer, pay loader scissor lift and forklift
  • Follow maintenance best practices and attend all safety training
  • Conduct regular house-cleaning duties, keeping the boiler room area neat and clean
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards to the Operations Manager or Shift Lead and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Minnesota 1st Class Grade B Boiler Operator license (or higher) is required
  • High school diploma or GED; technical college degree or vocational training desired
  • A minimum of 1 year of boiler operation experience preferred 
  • Willingness to learn process and understand how equipment is utilized
  • Ability to walk, climb ladders and steps, lift up to 50 lbs., and work at heights.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with office type applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
