Next-Generation Biodiesel Takes the Carbon Out of Commercial Applications
Gevo is capable of producing low-carbon, renewable diesel, and it’s coming at the right time to meet increased demand since the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) and California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) went into effect.
Gevo uses a proprietary, breakthrough process to convert low-carbon isobutanol or low-value “fusel oils”—a mixture of alcohols that are byproducts from fermentation processes—into renewable diesel fuel.
This process makes renewable diesel with reduced particulates and CO2
This biodiesel will suit boaters and cruisers, since the marine sector will have to reduce sulfur emissions to meet new international water regulations beginning in 2020.
The renewable diesel is expected to compete head-to-head on price with natural and petroleum-based equivalents.
