Next-Generation Fuels and Chemicals Made from Sustainable Resources

Gevo’s product line focuses on decarbonization of the process to give each of its biofuels, chemicals, and co-products the lowest carbon life-cycle assessment (LCA) possible. The LCA is widely considered to be the best yardstick of true carbon intensity in biofuels and chemicals produced to replace fossil fuels, because this metric takes into account the full range of carbon emissions and sequestration from all steps of the process.

Gevo creates a full range of biofuels and is constantly creating new chemicals to replace fossil fuels and petro-based chemicals, as well as high-protein animal feed. The products include:

Renewable Gasoline

Based on a mix of isooctane, isobutanol, and ethanol, depending on the market, this sustainable biofuel is ready to replace petro-based fuels and blends.

Renewable Biodiesel

Made from a blend of fusel oils (a waste byproduct of fermentation) and isobutanol, Gevo’s biodiesel has the potential to reinvent the transportation industry, and also has low sulfur content and no particulates.

Isooctane

High performance is what our isooctane is all about—it’s used in Formula 1 race cars in Europe and will give auto enthusiasts that track-day edge they’re looking for.

Isobutanol

Sometimes known as biobutanol, isobutanol is a building block for many of Gevo’s fuel and chemical products, and its creation has been a key breakthrough for many biofuels.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)

If the airline industry is going to achieve its goal to freeze emissions and achieve carbon-neutral growth by 2020, it must use low-carbon sustainable aviation fuel.

Isobutylene

Gevo’s isobutylene is the starting point for many chemicals and can replace the fossil-fuel base on which so many rely, with a low carbon intensity that will appeal to a huge portion of the market.

Ethanol

The market for ethanol is the largest biofuel market in the world, and we can make it in our Luverne, Minnesota, plant.

High-Protein Animal Feed

When Gevo uses sustainable corn as a feedstock, our process also produces ten pounds of high-protein animal feed for every gallon of fuel produced, a coproduct that has a market in close proximity to the facility.
