Process Operator

The Process Operator is responsible for the operation of the plant, working a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the Company.

Detailed Job Description:

  • Ensure the production of alcohol and distiller’s grain by conducting the operation of systems: cook, fermentation, yeast propagation, distillation, evaporation, and drying
  • Monitor the production process from the control room, take samples, monitor process equipment, climb stairs and ladders to monitor equipment that is elevated
  • Conduct start up and shut down of all processing plant systems efficiently and safely
  • Coordinate and communicate with operators and Shift Lead from the preceding shift and following shift as to work assignments, relaying all messages and instructions
  • Maintain and keep accurate records to produce alcohol and distiller’s grain
  • Complete the required cleaning of all plant systems
  • Communicate all problems with equipment to the Shift Lead and assist with the repair and maintenance of production equipment
  • Follow good manufacturing practices (GMP) and attend all safety training
  • Conduct regular house-cleaning duties, keeping the entire production area as neat and clean as possible
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards to the Shift Lead and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Lead or Operations Manager

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Technical college degree or vocational training desired
  • Willingness to learn process and operating procedures
  • Previous ethanol experience preferred
  • Ability to walk and climb ladders and steps
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Continuously stand on cement floors
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with office type applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
